Helen and Roger would like to welcome you to their home, Little Hazels, where you can relax and unwind in this peaceful location.
Little Hazels is situated on the edge of the village of Tisbury in an area known as “Tuckingmill”. This extreme south western part of Wiltshire near the Dorset border is sometimes described as “Secret England” because of the rolling hills, wooded slopes, small lakes and beautiful scenery. We are within 4 miles of main “A” roads yet well hidden and peaceful.
The River Nadder winds its way through the village and the surrounding chalk downs. Many of the houses are built from the local stone quarried nearby. Tisbury is steeped in history and was mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It’s worth a visit to St John’s Church to see the yew tree, claimed to be 4000 years old, or take a stroll through the village and catch sight of Place Farm with its Tythe Barn – the largest thatched one in England.
Tisbury is a bustling village with many facilities including a good range of shops, a post office, bank, small supermarket with cash machine, dentist, doctor’s surgery, library, sports centre and outdoor swimming pool (open May – October). We also have a main line station (London Waterloo-Exeter) and we are only a short distance from the A303, A30 and A350 by car.
Tisbury is well placed as a base to explore the surrounding area and towns/cities of Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Salisbury, Bath, and nearby attractions of Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Longleat, Stonehenge, Wilton House, and Kingston Lacey. The coast at either Bournemouth or Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door are only an hour’s drive away through lovely countryside.
